Call Terminal Apartments is served by Irving Elementary, North Middle School, and North High School in the Sioux City Community School District. (Updated summer 2017)
Call Terminal Apartments anchors the Historic 4th Street business and entertainment district in downtown Sioux City and is home to 70 recently renovated apartments.
The building’s historic significance began in the 1800s when Eastern investors were so impressed with Sioux City’s progressive attitude that they acquired title to $500,000 worth of Sioux City real estate. This acquisition would become the location of the Plymouth Block Building, now known as Call Terminal Apartments. After local architect Edward W. Loft completed plans for the property, a variety of wholesale and light manufacturing firms occupied it. Throughout the years, long-term occupants have included a bank, a clothing manufacturer, printing company, barbershop, salon and more.
Today, the formerly vacant building has been given new life and houses apartments and commercial/retail space along 4th Street. One of the building’s unique features is the central atrium that extends through all four floors and provides plenty of natural light throughout the building.
